The Dry Look’s cracking power-pop/pub-rock/‘60s mashup proves that rock nerds who grew up on Trouser Press and Creem magazine and who tripped out to their older siblings’ Stones, Who, Kinks and Yardbirds records finally have a band they can call their very own.
Combining a stripped-down guitar/bass/drums attack with harmony-loaded vocals, this Chicago trio draws from power pop, new wave, garage, jangle and rootsy influences, mixing wry and hooky originals with obscurities from The Jam, Kinks, Byrds, The dB’s, Shoes, Flamin’ Groovies, Nick Lowe, Buck Owens, the Ramones and countless others.
