About the event

SoundBridge is a Chicago-based musical ensemble dedicated to bringing multi-generational musicians and audiences together through innovative and socially meaningful musical programs. Each year, SoundBridge develops and performs a new concert-based musical program centered on a different musical genre, drawing upon the diverse musical backgrounds, experiences, and talents of over a dozen musicians and vocalists.

SoundBridge was founded on the belief that live music is more than entertainment. It is a means of creating community, encouraging cultural understanding, providing artists of all generations with meaningful opportunities for creative expression, and making the arts accessible to people who might otherwise have limited opportunities to experience live musical performances.

Where the Backroads Lead Our current program, “Where the Backroads Lead,” explores the evolution of country music through the generations, from its early roots to contemporary artists. Rather than presenting a chronological journey, we bring country music to life through a narrative lens and the reflections of one individual looking back on his life, his roots, his relationships, and the town that shaped him. Through his personal story, some of country music’s greatest songs give voice to his journey.

Charitable EFFORTS

The ensemble operates through the volunteer participation of musicians and vocalists contributing their time, talent, energy, and emotional investment. Rather than compensating performers, SoundBridge provides musicians with an opportunity to participate in a serious artistic project, develop and share their talents, build community, and contribute to a social cause. All venue proceeds or patron contributions go directly to one of three charities. For this performance season SoundBridge is aligned with St. Jude Hospital, Tutoring Chicago, and The Greater Chicago Food Depository.

Friendly Music Community

The SoundBridge Performance of “Where the Backroads lead” at The Friendly Music Community will be performed to benefit Tutoring Chicago, which has a 61-year history of providing one on one tutoring to financially disadvantaged kids. This year, 1500 kids will benefit from their commitment.
