About the event
Get ready for a curated journey through the best of Chicago's folk, soul, and rock scene. The Friendly Sunday Matinee opens with featured sets by Robinlee Garber and Cheryl Lynn Tomblin. Robinlee brings a "crystalline alto voice" to a sophisticated repertoire of folk and jazz standards, while Cheryl layers "smoky vocals" over contemplative, blues-influenced melodies. Both artists will perform their own original compositions along with a soulful selection of pop and soul cover tunes.
The Menards take the stage for the second set and feature veteran multi-instrumentalist Tim Menard and his fiddle-playing bride, Cathie Van Wert. With over four decades of experience, Tim’s "smoky tenor voice" and introspective songwriting perfectly complement Cathie’s fiddle work. Together, they spin aspects of folk, rock, and blues into a rich web of Americana.
