About the event
Vikas Deo is a Chicago-based musician and sound designer who specializes in nylon-string guitar, while also exploring instruments like lap steel, sarod, mandolin, bansuri, and piano. Trained in guitar and composition, he shifted from written music to improvisation, blending jazz, blues, Indian raag, and pop traditions, which he shares through Frets&Notes and YouTube. His work spans sound design, editing, and composition for games, film, and media, with credits including pinball, slot machines, commercials, short films, and Olympic ice dance programs. Vikas is also training in therapeutic music to bring live music to patients in healthcare settings, and enjoys researching its effects on the mind.
