Artists Statements:

Adrianne Hanley

I am a lifelong artist who has spent the past 11 years working from my shared studio in Bridgeport. My practice primarily includes printmaking, painting, and mixed media.

I am an avid collector and observer of the interesting, finding inspiration in the details and curiosities of the world around me. My work often explores nature, witchcraft, and still life, blending these subjects with my curiosity and imagination to create images that feel both familiar and mysterious.

As I begin a new chapter in my art-making career, I am giving myself the freedom to explore the rhythm and spontaneity of childhood artmaking—the instinct to play, experiment, and create without judgment. I am allowing this process the time and space to develop and evolve naturally, trusting that through making, exploring, and embracing curiosity, I will discover and grow into the next version of myself as an artist.

Anne Evans

My work approaches abstraction not as a style, but as a way of seeing. Through the lens, I move beyond documentation and search instead for fragments—light slipping across a surface, the tension within a line, the quiet pulse of color in shadow. I am less concerned with what an object is than with how it feels when reduced to shape, texture, and gesture.

Abstraction allows me to disrupt familiarity. By isolating details, compressing perspective, or dissolving form, I create images where certainty softens and perception becomes active. The camera becomes a tool not for explanation, but for transformation. Ordinary environments—walls, reflections, industrial materials, landscapes—shift into fields of rhythm, movement, and visual resonance.

Ultimately, my photographs are not about subjects; they reveal my personal vision. I hope to engage the viewer to linger long enough to experience color as emotion, line as tension, and space as breath while pausing to see their surroundings in a fresh new way.
