About the event
Join us on Friday, May 8th at 7 PM for a rare and intimate evening with Chris and Scott Ligon, with special guests Heather McAdams and Sharon Rutledge. These two brothers have spent their lives at the heart of the Chicago music scene, shaping the sounds of beloved bands like The Flat Five, NRBQ, and The Western Elstons. Chris Ligon, a prolific composer with over 200 songs to his name, brings the wit and craft that has made his annual Country Calendar Show a 26-year staple of the region alongside his wife, the celebrated cartoonist and filmmaker Heather McAdams.
Joining them is Scott Ligon, a world-class multi-instrumentalist globally recognized for his nearly 20-year tenure with the legendary NRBQ. Famously "unschooled" but technically brilliant, Scott is a cornerstone of the Chicago "super-group" scene. He is joined by his wife, Sharon Rutledge, a multi-talented artist, animator, and musician. Best known in the visual arts for creating the memorable video for The Flat Five's "Look at the Birdy," Sharon is also a gifted guitarist and songwriter in her own right. As a constant creative force in the Chicago scene, she frequently joins Scott on stage, lending her "spectacular" musicality to his many offshoot projects.
From Chris’s iconic storytelling to Scott’s "free-spirited" spontaneity on everything from the Hammond organ to the accordion, this performance is a masterclass in pure, unadulterated music-making. Tickets: $20.
