Friendly's Artist's Reception featuring TIM LEEMING, Thursday March 9 reception at 7:30pm
Join us for Friendly's inaugural artist reception in the new Friendly Community Room. Featuring the work of local artist Tim Leeming, the exhibition includes original pastel portraits of Friendly Music Community members. Live music by Chris Neville and Chris Siebold (Chris Squared). 6729 Roosevelt Road, Berwyn. About Tim: Tim Leeming has lived in the area for decades. And is usually seen wandering around during the early morning hours. He is a licensed attorney, who recently retired after working as appointed counsel for individual criminal clients of the Office of the Cook County Public Defender. He received a fine arts education at a his local public high school (Arlington Heights, 1979). He studied the Fine Arts at the University of Illinois, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is a member of the Palette and Chisel Academy of Chicago, and the Oak Park Art League. His prints, paintings and drawings are hung far and wide, mostly on the walls within the homes of his friends and relatives. A local poster boy for late bloomers everywhere, Lazzeretti... released his first record, “Battle Of The Planets” after years of writing and playing in venues all around Chicagoland. Lazzeretti is also a veteran writer, independent filmmaker and commercial director. Ron wrote and produced Michael Keaton’s directorial debut “The Merry Gentleman,” starring Keaton and Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire, No Country For Old Men). The film had its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to earn rave reviews in the LA Times, The NY Times as well as 3 ½ stars from Roger Ebert. Ron also wrote and directed “Something Better Somewhere Else,” a feature-length collection of four stories under one theme which Ebert hailed as “a delightful film, and in some stretches a flawless one.” He is the co-writer and director of the acclaimed web series, GRAVEYARD, which the Chicago Tribune called “an existential internet gem.” Radiolab described it as “face-breakingly hilarious.” They're all local legends, and on this night, they celebrate the icons we have all grown to know and love! We took your poll suggestions, the performers added their own inspirations, and now we have a knock out show! Brandi Carlile, Tracy Chapman, Aretha Franklin, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Bonnie Raitt, Nina Simone, Amy Winehouse... and MORE! Maybe a song or two from our performers' own playlists! This is an event where current stars pay tribute to the women who have paved paths throughout music history! Join us!
